picture planes
We understand three dimensional spaces within two dimensional picture planes thanks to our ability to interpret the interaction of planes within the image, especially as they relate to one or more vanishing points.
In these particular paintings, I subtract portions of my photographs and physically superimpose other images to challenge the logic of three-dimensional, perspectival space. In manipulating the planes implied in these paintings, I aim to play with the construction of perspective and question our experience of a space versus its representation.
